As the center of education for Western Visayas, Iloilo is home to more than 30 universities and colleges. These higher education institutions offer diverse programs from agriculture to information technology, research and development, extention programs and continuing education. Technical vocational skills and education programs are also offered by Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Accredited institutions.
Below are some of the three oldest universities in Iloilo. University of the Philippines in the Visayas was formed in the 1940s; the University of San Agustin was founded in 1904; while the Central Philippine University was established in 1905.
